Kids 8 Week Intermediate Term
Join us at Sew Me School of Fashion and Design for the next step in your child's fashion future.
Our Kids Intermediate Term is specially designed for those who excelled in previous classes and courses. Over the course of 8 weeks we will focus on sewing fundamentals to really refine their sewing and fashion skills.
They'll make a fully wearable garment using quality material from a block pattern and have endless access to the studio haberdashery.
This class is suitable for children 10+. 1.5hr weekly lessons over 8 weeks. A kids mini term or private lesson must be completed prior to enrolment, please contact us or have a chat to our friendly staff before enrolling to see if this level is right for you.
At the end of this term your child can re-enrol and begin in our courses to further develop their skills in fashion design and dressmaking, perfecting their already growing skills.
What they'll learn:
- Understanding block patterns
- How to operate a sewing machine and how the different functions of the sewing machine work
- Types of fabric and their compositions
- How to use other decorative stitches
- How to edge seams so they don’t fray
- How to hand stitch
- Sewing with care and machine maintenance
- Winding a bobbin and threading a machine
- Basic troubleshooting

Please supply my fabric and notions - Let us take the daunting hassle out of choosing your fabric and notions, we'll select and provide you with the recommended fabric and all notions required for you to complete your garment. You just need to bring your sewing machine and accessories.
I'll supply my own fabric and notions - Want to choose your own fabric and notions? we're cool with that too. Simply select this option and we'll tell you exactly what you'll need to complete your project. Your fabrics and notions aren't required for the first lesson, we'll let you know on your first lesson what you'll need for your term.
